World Record Event - Volunteer Info

Friday 19th January & Saturday 20th January, 2024


Help make this event a huge success!

Who We Need:

PRE-EVENT SET UP


Friday, January 19th: 7:30am until ~12pm 

  • Set up 50 x pools and assist with pumping the ocean water inside

  • Set up fencing around event area (note: fencing is half size pool fencing and light enough to move easily)

  • Optional – be at event area later this day at 4:30pm to participate in the live coverage from Channel 9 news (airing between 5pm-7pm)


Saturday, January 20th: 7am until 12pm

  • Organise ice delivery and ensure bobcats can be guided near event safely

  • Distribute bags of ice around each pool ready for the participants to fill pools with ice (65 bags of 10kg ice per pool)

  • Registrations for ice bath participants will be from 8am-10am, we need you to set up tables, sign in/register participants and ensure their waivers have been completed prior to handing them their participant wrist band (*they cannot participate unless the waiver has been signed*)

  • Inform participants of program itinerary if they ask any questions (see ‘Event Program’ in blue below)

  • Any other jobs required on the day


STEWARD


Official Steward [Saturday, January 20th: 10am until ~1pm]

  • Meet at registration desk at 10am to be ready for a prompt 10:15am briefing, sign GWR form, receive Steward t-shirt, wrist band and pool allocation (maximum 4 pools per Steward), and please bring your mobile phone with you to take photos of the temperature of each pool (needs to be ≤ 6° celsius)

  • Check temperature of pools (≤ 6° celsius) and take photograph of temperature on your phone prior to event commencement (email your temp photos to mark@onelifeliveit.com.au)

  • Be ready for event commencement (12pm) to walk in with ice bath participants and stand by your allocated pools

  • *You cannot be an ice bath participant when doing this role*


POST-EVENT PACK UP


Saturday, January 20th: 1pm until ~4pm

  • Pack pools away

  • Remove fencing

  • Take gazebos down

  • Fold tables

  • Any other jobs required on the day

 

All volunteer jobs listed above will be located at Leighton Beach – in front of the Fremantle Surf Lifesaving Club – 20 Leighton Beach Boulevard, North Fremantle.
